		<description>I&#039;ve been using ruby-net-ldap for a while now and have been very happy with it.  The docs are pretty good and it&#039;s super easy to get started.  Definitely give it a try.</description>

		<description>The one option you didn&#039;t try out was using JRuby with JNDI, or JRuby with JRuby-LDAP (which is like JRuby-LDAP but uses a JNDI backend, meaning no compilation or installation needed).

There is also a pure Ruby LDAP library called ruby-net-ldap which works quite well.</description>
