		<description>Interesting. In some ways this goes against the grain of agile. Think, for example, of the ideal of &quot;evolving&quot; a design by solving local problems, doing just enough to implement the next story - with the expectation that what looks like a predesigned infrastructure will &quot;emerge&quot;. 

Also reminded of what Jeff Patton talks about: how to do just enough big picture planning (with what he used to call span planning and I think now calls story maps) while still adhering to the general style of Agile.

I think one of the big tricks to Agile - not talked about much - is how you simultaneously work on the next thing (solve the next problem) while always being sensitive to how a number of big pictures are shaping up. How you make a series of local optimizations as-if-by-magic also, over time, build up to a global optimization?</description>
