I think I read somewhere that Jimmy was replacing the static gateway code with a similar configuration model as StructureMap has. Which would enable you to inject it instead. But yeah I like the automapper very much.

I like ICanCloneAFoo, but I would have named it IPityTheFoo. Nice post by the way. I love AutoMapper, but it took me a while to realize the same things you ran into.
